Spring is here
Spring is here in Canberra and we are already through September which means the weather is slowly, but surely, heating up. Popular opinion around Australia is that Canberra is freezing cold all year round, but us Canberran’s know better! The summers dry heat can become excruciatingly hot, reference earlier blog that talks to the hottest temps we have had in Canberra.
What’s happening in Canberra this Spring?
Floriade
Sadly, due to COVID-19 , one of Canberra’s most iconic events has been cancelled for 2020: Floriade. The one thing COVID-19 could not stop though was the blooming of the flowers. The event has been reimagined this year to help locals and visitors adhere to social distancing rules so there will be 130 sites across Canberra with blossoming flower beds.
Pub Rock
For those out there who are missing music gigs, the Portrait Gallery has an exhibition with 70’s and 80’s music inspired artwork, with a Spotify playlist to listen too whilst you peruse the exhibition. Not quite the same as a live gig, but the Portrait Gallery rarely get an experience wrong, so worth a look. Exhibition is called Pub Rock.
Go for a Paddle on the Lake
Get out into the sunshine with a buddy or two and walk around the stunning Lake Burley Griffin. Our suggestion is to take a walk to the Paddle Boat hiring dock and take a paddle on the lake itself. The exercise can help shed those unwanted COVID kilos and the sunshine and company can only make you smile! Not to mention the scenery.
Get out to a café or pub
Get out and support all of the amazing Canberra local businesses who have tightened their rules due to COVID and taken a hit in the back pocket. The weather is warming up and there is nothing more normal then getting out to meet family or friends for some quality food, coffee or even a beer/ wine. The sunshine will do everybody good and we all need a laugh after the year that has been so far. Some of our recommendations for quality service, food and atmosphere are: Good Brother Café in Dickson, Siren bar in Gungahlin or The Bavarian in Woden.
Make sure you are ready for the heat!
When you get home from all of your exciting adventures who will likely require the cool breeze from your air conditioning unit. To ensure you are ready for the Spring heat and the upcoming summer heatwave, get your air conditioner serviced so you do not get stuck cooling the family with a water spray bottle and a fan. Air conditioning units should be serviced every year to ensure longevity of the system and to avoid any breakdowns. Do not get stuck this summer, get on top of your air conditioning servicing and call the expert team at Airconditioning Canberra.
